Gems Glide as Rollers roll on

The Gems run in the Under 19 World Championships for Women continues with the ladies scoring a resounding 72-51 win over Brazil that propels them into the Quarter Finals of the competition. Elizabeth Cambage who is the tourneys top scorer thus far led Australia with 20 points with additional input from Bree Farley (11 points), Gretel Tippett (8 points, 8 rebounds) and Rachel Jarry (8 points, 6 rebounds).

The Gems path so far has included wins over Argentina (75-51), France (66-57), and Korea (99-41) in the Preliminary Round along with wins over Lithuania (63-59) and the Czech Republic (92-65) before their triumph over Brazil. The Championships are being held in Bangkok, Thailand.

The team will face Canada on Friday in the Quarter Final round.

Meanwhile on the local scene, the Rollers Australia's Mens Wheelchair Basketball team has continued to show fine form by smashing Japan today 83-41 in the Rollers World Challenge being held at the Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre. The Rollers routed Canada 66-37 in the opening round. Their next match will be against Great Britain on Friday. If you are in the area, get out and support the Aussies against the Poms.
